In the past\, the Roundtable has been proud to host tours of the Lower Coquitlam River Watershed in an effort to strengthen community bonds to the land. In the face of COVID\, we have had to change the way we deliver our public programming to maintain a safe physical distance. So\, this year our Coordinator visited eight great spots in the watershed and had the tour filmed so that viewers can check out the sites on their own. Each stop features a local expert who touches on the work s/he does\, conservation concerns for the area and how you can get involved! \nAll eight stops will be available as smaller videos on our YouTube channel. Participants will be meeting at the Red Bridge Trailhead and move north from there.\n\nThere will be equipment on hand for volunteers\, such as garbage pickup tongs\, spare gloves\, face masks\, sanitizer etc. Availability may be limited based on numbers\, so it’s best to bring these if you have them. DESCRIPTION:Together with the Maple Creek Streamkeepers\, PoCo’s Parks Department\, and Metro Vancouver’s and Vancity’s financial support\, we are pleased to organize another invasive plant species “pull” with the hope that many of you will be able to join us this Saturday! \nWhen: 9:45AM – 12:30 PM\, Saturday\, October 5th\nWhere: Meet end of Bedford St & Riverbend Dr\, Port Coquitlam\nWhat to Wear: Outdoor/gardening clothes (gear) that can get dirty\, wet and potentially stained\, sturdy boots/shoes and (rain) hat\nWhat to Bring: Durable (drinking) bottle/cup\, work gloves (if you have)\, snacks\, your smile and positive energy! \nWe will provide instructions\, snacks\, tools\, gloves\, tarps & laughter while we cut Himalayan blackberry\, pull English ivy\, and dig up hops – yes\, hops!
