Core Committee

The Coquitlam River Watershed Strategy was initiated in 2007 by a group of concerned stakeholders who formed a Project Team. In spring 2010, the Project Team completed three phases of work, including compiling background information, engaging stakeholders and visioning, and reviewing governance options. The result of this work was the recommendation to create a Coquitlam River Watershed Roundtable – and a vision, values, guiding principles and Terms of Reference to guide Roundtable.
During the implementation phase in summer-fall 2010, a transition planning team comprised of the key government and non-government sectors in the watershed helped to form an administrative body to guide the Roundtable. Termed the Core Committee, this administrative body was established in early 2011. The Transition Team disbanded following the first Roundtable meeting on February 19, 2011. The Core Committee is comprised of 18 members representing the many watershed sectors. The Core Committee meets approximately every two months in order to move Roundtable projects forward in between Roundtable meetings. The Core Committee is supported by a Roundtable Coordinator, who can be reached at coordinator@coquitlamriverwatershed.ca. Each year, the Core Committee will convene one or two Community Roundtable meetings to share the work of the Roundtable and solicit feedback and guidance.
