Movie Screening on April 22 at 7pm

Port Coquitlam, BC: This Earth day, show your green global colours. Join us at Leigh Square Community Arts Village for a FREE special screening of “Dirt! The Movie” on April 22 at 7pm as an extension of Leigh Square’s Movie Night program.
DIRT! The Movie–directed and produced by Bill Benenson and Gene Rosow–takes you inside the wonders of the soil. It tells the story of Earth’s most valuable and underappreciated source of fertility–from its miraculous beginning to its crippling degradation. Narrated by Jamie Lee Curtis, “Dirt! The Movie” brings to life the environmental, economic, social and political impact that the soil has. It shares the stories of experts from all over the world who study and are able to harness the beauty and power of a respectful and mutually beneficial relationship with soil.
The film is simply not only about dirt, but also provides us with more than just a lesson on the life-giving material. It warns us about the modern industrial pursuits and clamor for both profit and natural resources, our human connection to and respect for soil has been disrupted. “Dirt! The Movie” is a call to action.
The movie will be shown on Earth Day, April 22 at 7:00pm in Leigh Square’s Gathering Place. This screening will be a sister event to another in Brooklyn, New York at PS-15 Patrick Daly School organized by Port Coquitlam artist Diane Moran as a partnership. Grab a drink and some popcorn and join us for some quality cinema. Check the Leigh Square Facebook for updates.
