It is with heavy hearts the Roundtable shares news of the passing of Glen Wayne Joe, fisheries manager, fisher and devoted steward to improve watershed health in the Coquitlam River and support return of the Sockeye Salmon, symbolic of Kwikwetlem meaning, “Red fish Up the River,” to the Coquitlam River. As a founding team member in 2007, he was instrumental in the formation of the Coquitlam River Watershed Roundtable in 2011. His memory will continue to live on in our organization’s logo, which Glen was the primary influence in its design.
A Celebration of Life was held on January 26, 2025 at the Kwikwetlem IR1 Community Hall, where he was fondly remembered by his family, friends, leaders and environmental stewards.
July 18, 2008 - Glen Joe releases the first Coquitlam sockeye in more than 100 years to make it back to the Coquitlam Lake, thanks to the Kwikwetlem First Nation and the Kwikwetlem Salmon Restoration Program.
